Mural Unveiled

Airport Link Mural Unveiling

Yesterday was the official unveiling of the large scale, 30m mural that I was honoured to be the Artist in Residence in conjunction with Wooloowin State school Staff and Students.

In June this year, I was approached by the local primary school principal and staff from Theis John Holding and Airport Link to be involved in the design and creation of a large scale mural to be erected on Gympie road near the construction for the airport link tunnels. Many weeks of painting with the students, parents and Principal Mr Deen has ended and we are all proud to see the fruits of our hard work finally up for all to see.

The theme of the mural is the history of transport through this area. It is particularly relevant to the now as most of the construction around Wooloowin, Lutwyche area is to build new bus lanes, tunnels for cars to get to the airport and relieve congestion on the busy Lutwyche road.

Many of the students gave of their time over the school holidays to help paint this huge 30m mural and add a bit of colour to what is basically a busy construction site.

I was very proud and honoured to be a part of this project and will enjoy viewing the mural every time I drive through this part of time.

Next time you are on the north side of town, driving around the huge intersection on Lutwyche, Gympie road and Kedron Park road connection, make sure you look for the mural, (actually its pretty hard to miss), and let me know what you think!

A big thanks to all the people involved.....something we are proud to say we were involved in!
